Saturday nights BCFC match-up between the Okanagan Sun and Kamloops Broncos will close the door on the regular season for both teams…that’s where the similarity ends.
The Sun are on the cusp of completing another 10 – 0 perfect season, their third in four years, whereas the Broncos, at 0 and 9, will be happy to see the 2025 season come to an end.
For Kamloops, this year will be one to forget…from their season opening 50 – 7 loss to two mid-season back-to-back games where they were outscored 142 – 3, which included the 70 – 3 beatdown by the Sun, the Broncos have struggled every step of the way.
At the other end of the field, you have the Sun who have played some of their best football in years. Over the nine games so far, they have blanked their opponents three times, out-scoring them 175 – 0, and in seven games held the opposition to no more than 11 points.
On paper Saturday’s game should be an instant “W” in the win column, but not for Sun Head Coach Travis Miller, “We are going to approach it like it’s any other game, their record doesn’t impact our preparation. The thing that I feel sets us apart from other teams is our preparation. So, we won’t make any adjustments or changes, and we approach it like it’s any other game”.
The numbers are telling between these teams…the Sun have a Passing Completion percentage of 67% to Kamloops at 44, Rushing Yards per game has the Sun at 166.9 vs Broncos at 62.0, Receiving Yards per game the Sun are 629.4 vs 131.3. Offensive Yards per game are a staggering three times greater with the Sun rolling up an average of 1,296.1 yards to Broncos 412.8.
Finish first in the BCFC, check…secure home-field advantage in the playoffs, check…close out the 2025 season with a perfect 10 and 0 record, that’s to be seen on Saturday night.
The Sun playoff schedule kicks off on Saturday October 11th at 1:00 PM when they host the fourth place Vancouver Island Raiders. In their only previous match-up, the home-opener on July 26, the Sun blanked the Raiders 42 – 0. Ticket sale information to be announced.
