It may be a little early in the 2025 season to be talking about streaks, but the Okanagan Sun, at 2 and 0, find themselves in familiar territory as they prepare to host the PG Kodiaks Saturday at the Apple Bowl.

The defending BCFC champions are in the same position they were last year, two straight wins heading into game three.  The similarity stops there.

The Sun were in two tight battles to open the 2024 season.  Game one was a 22-15 win over Langley, the following week a 31-24 win over the VI Raiders.  In the first two games, the Sun scored 53 pts., to 39 against.

This year it’s all about a dominating defence that has shutout the opposition.  Offensively the Sun have put up 81 points allowing 0 in two games.

Defensively the Sun have three BCFC Stat Leaders, LB Phil Palmarin is tied for the lead in Solo Tackles with 11, DL JaQuintis Summers is the top Sack man with three and DB Tariq Brown and Palmarin are tied for the lead with two interceptions each.

Players To Watch

The Sun defence will once again be put to the test with the visiting PG Kodiaks offence, who last week downed the winless Kamloops Broncos 33-13.  QB Sawyer Thiessen directing the offensive charge with 344 yards net offence, 146 yards along the ground and 208 thru the air.

Kodiaks go-to-guy in the backfield is RB Gavin Halvorson who carried the ball 19 times for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Thiessen led air attack featured 8 different receivers…WR Ben Fehr had 3 receptions for 42 yards, R Carson Briere hauled in 2 passes for 36 yards and 1 TD, and R Matthew Sturgess collected 2 passes for 44 yards.

The Kodiaks defence did their share of damage last week, picking off three Kamloops passes, with LB Caiden Crow leading with 5 solo tackles, 1 assist, 1 special teams tackle, 1 pass knock down, and I interception.

In a similar story to last season, the Sun, after two games, boast the leading rusher in the BCFC in RB Gerren Hardisty with 194 yards, is number one in rushing touchdowns with 4, and is tied for the lead in points scored and touchdowns scored.

After two games QB Liam Kroeger has a .604% passing completion, with 29 of 48 for 454 yards and two touchdowns, and 1 INT.  Kroeger’s favorite target in the first two games has been WR Jordayne Falconer with 7 receptions for 171 yards.
