SUN LOCK DOWN SECOND PLACE IN A 42-7 BEAT DOWN OF THE REBELS

Whether it was the rising of a full Harvest Moon or the cold late September air…the Okanagan Sun were fired up for their last 2026 BCFC regular season game versus the Westshore Rebels.

Going into the game all the 7 and 2 Sun needed was a victory over the 6 and 2 Rebels to finish second and they delivered in dominating fashion with a 42-7 thorough beating.

Right from the games opening kickoff, the Sun plowed through and over the Rebels defence and offence.

Starting QB Marcus Christos got it rolling on the first possession with a couple of handoffs to RB Jaxon Allan for 12 and 20 yds and then found REC Gage Parker for a 29 yd strike for six and a 7-0 Sun barely four minutes into the first quarter.

Sun P/K Grady Hay made it 10-0 on a 17 yd field goal early in the second quarter.

Mid way through the quarter the Rebels found the end zone on a 16 yd run from RB Jerin Harinen in what would be their only points on the night, 10-7 Sun.

It was the smothering defensive coverage from the Sun that frustrated Rebels QB Anthony Cancellare all game long, limiting their offence to 93 yds rushing and a shocking 54 yds passing.

The Sun defence were relentless in their attack all game long…DB’s Vicente Ferreira and Glen Kodua each had interceptions while DB Ty Walker led with 3 pass knockdowns, LB Liam O’Flynn had 2 KDs and a team leading 5 tackles.

With just over two minutes to halftime, Christos hit REC Adnesse Pannenbecker with a 17 yd pass to make it 17-7 Sun.

Hay capped the first half scoring with a 31 yd FG to give the Sun a 20-7 lead.

In the third quarter it was time for the Sun offence to shine under Christos leadership scoring three unanswered TDs.

First up was an unbelievable touchdown catch from Devontae Mozee when he thwarted what would have been a sure interception, stealing the ball from the Rebel defender for a 39-yard TD, 26-7 Sun.

On the next Rebel possession, Cancellare fumbled at their 48 yd line scooped up by DL Michael Sneed.

Two plays later Christos scampered in from 4 yds out, set up after an Allan 36 yd run, 33-7 Sun.

QB Liam Kroeger replaced Christos late in the third quarter and closed out the scoring handing the ball to Allan who took off for a 60 yd TD run, 40-7 Sun.

Saturday nights Sun victory closed the door on the 2026 BCFC regular season as they enjoy a bye in the final week of the schedule before hosting a semi-final playoff against either Westshore Rebels or V.I. Raiders who met each other this weekend.

From the Canadian Junior Football League record book, Sun REC Colton Meikle earned himself a spot in history when he became the CJFL’s all-time leader in career receptions with 200. His two catches were enough to surpass the old record of 199 set by Saskatoon Hilltops Andrew Busby in 2008.
