With a few days off thanks to a bye week, the Okanagan Sun (4-0) are back on the practice field preparing for their next opponent, the (1-3) Valley Huskers for their first meeting of the season on Saturday night in Chilliwack.

While the Sun have been savoring their euphoric come-from-behind win on Vancouver Island on August 9th over Westshore, the Huskers climbed out of a tie for last place with a 25-8 victory over the winless Kamloops Broncos.

Don’t let the 1 and 3 Huskers record fool you…they opened the 2025 BCFC season with 3 straight road games, two on the Island vs Rebels and Raiders, and then Langley.  Two of the road losses were by a combined 11 points.

Players To Watch

The Huskers are led by QB Key’Shaun Dorsey who will be a double threat to the Sun defense.  Last week against Kamloops, Dorsey spread the ball around to nine different receivers for a total of 229 yards, and when he’s not throwing the ball, he won’t hesitate to run, chipping in 94 yards rushing on 13 carries. Dorsey is second in BCFC Touchdown Passes with 6.

Another threat out of the Husker backfield is RB Jawad Harb, who last week put up 126 yards rushing on 20 touches.  Harb is second in BCFC Rushing Yards with 365 yds., and in Rushing Yards per Game with 91.3.

Offensively, the Sun will continue to look to 4-year veteran QB Liam Kroeger to lead the offense. In 4 games, Kroeger sports a .629 completion percentage on 61 of 97 attempts for 882 yards, 2 INT’s and 4 TD’s.  He’s ranked 2nd in Total Passed Yards.  The receiving corps is led by WR Jordayne Falconer, 15 catches for 246 yds., and WR Sam Melanson, 12 for 110 yds.

Sun RB Gerren Hardisty will be looking to add to his league leading totals.  Hardisty leads in Rushing Yards with 549 and Rushing Yards per Game at 137.3 yds.  He is second in Rushing Touchdowns with 4, to teammate and back-up QB Marcus Christos who has 5.

Containment will be a key word for the Sun defence this week against the Huskers and leading that charge will be DL JaQuintis Summers and DL Jarveon Williams. They have combined for 13 sacks, Summers leads the BCFC with 8, Williams is ranked third with 5.

The Sun secondary will have their hands full keeping tabs on Husker leading receiver WR Dhag Mora who leads the team in receiving with 13 catches for 205 yds.  Last week, Mora had 5 receptions for 97 yds., one of nine receivers that quarterback Dorsey utilized.
