Special Note – The Okanagan Sun Football Club is celebrating Kelowna Minor Football on Saturday night.  All players in K.M.F., and high schools, wearing their team jerseys will receive free General Admission to the game.

It’s officially fall and with the change of seasons means BCFC playoff football is quickly approaching.

The Okanagan Sun (7-2), host the Westshore Rebels (6-2), Saturday night at the Apple Bowl, 7:00 PM kickoff, in a game that will have playoff implications.

An out-right Sun win will clinch second place and homefield advantage for a semi-final playoff game.

A Rebels win, by more than 23 points, would move them into second place and lock down a semifinal game in Langford the weekend of October 17/18. 

In their previous meeting this season, the Sun doubled up on the Rebels 46-23 in Langford.

Saturday’s game concludes the regular season for the Sun who have a bye in the final week, Westshore have two games remaining, the Sun and VI Raiders on October 3rd.

The Sun are coming off a much-needed bounce back win last weekend in Prince George, defeating the Kodiaks 63-14.

It was Sun RB Matt Chapman who was one man hi-lite reel, scoring six TDs on 20 carries for 104 yds, which earned him the BCFC’s Offensive Player of the Week honours.

Third string QB Liam Connolly started the game in place of starter Liam Kroeger and backup QB Marcus Christos, both out with injuries.

Connolly went 19 of 30 for 281 yds and 2 TDs. The Sun had a net offense of 399 yds. on 161 yds rushing and 281 passing.

Receiver Devontae Mozee was Connolly’s favorite target on the night, picking up 122 yds on 6 receptions and 2 TDs.

The Rebels will arrive in Kelowna on a three-game win streak and an emotional high after upsetting the league leading Rams last weekend 46-24, handing Langley their first loss of the season.

Westshore QB Anthony Cancellare went 18 of 33 for 324 yds and 3 TDs vs the Rams.  Receiver Zion Brown had a busy afternoon with 6 catches for 165 yds.
