Sun vs Rebels, Saturday August 9th, Kick-off 4:00 PM.
Saturday’s game could be billed as the Clash of the Titans, Battle of the Undefeated, call it what you may, it’s the biggest game of this young 2025 season for the 3-0 Okanagan Sun when they pay a visit to the 2-0 Westshore Rebels.
With a win, the Sun would have a 4-point lead over the current second place Rebels, who are coming off a bye last week.
If you’re thinking that this scenario sounds familiar, well it is…this game situation is a carbon copy of the 2024 season…the undefeated Sun going to the Island to face the undefeated Rebels. Head Coach Travis Miller and his staff are hoping that Saturday’s contest is not a nail biter like last year.
Trailing 28-16 after three quarters, the Sun scored 17 points in the 4th, and with a little help from the football gods squeaked out 33-30 win to move to 4 and 0.
Players to Watch
A search of the current BCFC Stat Leaders reflects the dominance of these two teams...of the 13 categories, only one player is not a Sun or Rebel.
Starting with the quarterbacks, Sun QB Liam Kroeger leads the BCFC in Total Passed Yards with 573 yds., closely followed by Rebels QB Gavin Session with 542 yds. Session leads the conference in touchdown passes with 6, both Kroeger and QB Marcus Christos have 2 each.
In the receiving department it’s Rebels WR Zion Brown holding down top spot in Receiving Yards, 303, and Touchdown Receptions, 4. Sun WR Jordayne Falconer is second with 193 yds., RB Gerren Hardisty rounds out the top 5 with 116 yds.
Duplicating last season, a Sun running back dominates the rushing stats. Hardisty leads the ground stats with 400 yards, number one in rushing average of 133.3 yds/game, Westshore’s RB Carter Williams is second at 89.5 yds/game. Hardisty is tops in rushing TDs with 4, number two goes to Christos with 3.
The battle of stat leaders between the Sun and Rebels continues with Points and Touchdowns Scored…Hardisty and Brown are tied with 24 points, and 4 TDs each.
On the defensive side of the ball, it’s all Okanagan Sun leading the way…in the Sack department, DL JaQuintis Summers has 6, following by his D-linemates, DL Jarveon Williams with 4 and DL Hunter Bultsma with 2.
This seasons top BCFC ball-hawks are Sun DB Tariq Brown and LB Phil Palmarin who are tied with 2 interceptions each.
It has all the ingredients for a true classic gridiron battle.
