It was just over a month ago when the Prince George Kodiaks came to town in Week 3 putting up the first points of the season against the Okanagan Sun. Whether that early score served as a wake-up call or not, it would be the only time the Kodiaks found the end zone as the Sun rolled to a decisive 35-11 victory.

This Saturday, however, fans can expect a very different matchup in Prince George. The Kodiaks are riding a three-game winning streak and have won four of their last five, the only loss in that stretch

coming at the hands of the Sun.

Since August 16th, Prince George has put together back-to-back-to-back victories over Langley, Kamloops, and the VI Raiders, boosting their record to 4-2 and moving them into third place in the BCFC standings with eight points.

Prince George will have their hands full when they welcome the visitors from Kelowna.  Over the last four games the Sun have produced crazy net offensive numbers…441, 478, 511, and 549 yards for a total of 1,979 yds, an average of 494.75 yds/game.

The chief engineers of the Sun’s offensive onslaught in those four games have been QB Liam Kroeger, RB Gerren Hardisty, and R Jordayne Falconer.  Kroeger has had 962 yards passed, Hardisty rambled for 595 yards, and Falconer 207 yards receiving.

Hardisty continues to lead the BCFC in Rushing Yards with 792, in Rushing Yards per Game with 132, and is tied with teammate QB Marcus Christos in Rushing Touchdowns with 7.  For his efforts in last weeks game vs the Broncos, 16 carries for 142 yards, 2 TD’s, and another thru the air, Hardisty was named this weeks BCFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Prince George’s number one ball carrier is RB Gavin Halvorson, who is 4th in league rushing with 338 yards on 74 carries.

Kodiaks QB Sawyer Thiessen continues to be a double threat when on the field.  Last week he carried the ball 8 times for 66 yards and completed 14 of 26 passes for 176 yards, 2 TD’s, and 1 interception.  The versatile quarterback is second in team rushing with 205 yards on 25 carries.

If there is one knock against Thiessen it has been the number of times he has been sacked this season, a total of 15.  Five of those came in the August 2nd game…Sun defensive linemen JaQuintis Summers and Jarveon Williams picked up a pair each, while Hunter Bultsma had 1.

Thiessen’s favourite receivers this season have been WR Ben Fehr, 22 catches for 202 yards, 1 touchdown, and WR Matthew Sturgess, 14 receptions for 160 yards, 1 TD.

Defensively the Kodiaks are led by linebackers Caiden Crow and Alexandros Thanos.  Crow leads the league in tackles with 38, Thanos is second on the team with 20 tackles.
