Through-out the regular season the Sun have demonstrated their scoring strengths from all aspects of the team.
Last night at the Apple Bowl was a certified performance of a team firing on all cylinders and scoring on offense, defense, and special teams to defeat a team that couldn’t find a way to get anything going.
The 94 – 0 rout of the Rams was the most points scored by a Sun team in 11 years, and the 69 points, 366 yards passing and six passing touchdowns, all in the first half, established new team records.
The Sun struck early and often! Quarterback Liam Kroeger picked up his first of 6 touchdown passes on the opening drive, finding receiver Tyler Craver in the end zone…7 – 0 Sun…it was just the beginning.
With his record setting passing yards in the opening half, Kroeger went 18 for 20, utilizing six different receivers on scoring plays and ran one in from 12 yards out in the 2nd quarter.
Kroeger tossed TD strikes to Sam Melanson, Vincent Chuoi, Jasiah Haliburton and a pair to Seth Famakinde
A Liam Attwood 39-yard field goal in the first half gave the Sun a 69 – 0 half-time score which reserved a seat on the bench for many of the starters to begin the third quarter.
Attwood finished the night with 22 points off 2 field goals, 12 converts, and 4 kick-off singles which vaulted him into the league lead for “Points Scored” with 96.
Besides the powerful output from the Sun offense in the first half, Special Teams had their own outstanding performance from punt return specialist Jordayne Falconer who had two electrifying returns for touchdowns of 76 and 79 yards. Haliburton had 5 returns for 93 yards.
Back-up quarterback Marcus Christos took over the offense to open the second half picking up where Kroeger left off. Christos fired a 34-yard strike to receiver Blake Van Bruggen to make it seven aerial touchdowns on the night.
Running back Gerren Hardisty started the night 57-yards shy of the “1000 Yard Club”. He added to his league leading rushing touchdowns with his 9th on a 3-yard plunge in the third quarter. It wasn’t until the final frame that Hardisty received his club membership and finished the night with 82 yards on 15 carries. Hardisty leads the BCFC in rushing yards with 1025.
The Sun put up 583 yards net offense, 400 in the opening half and 183 in the second half. The relentless aerial attack accounted for 454 yards, while the ground game added 142 yards.
With his explosive offensive output Kroeger moved into the league lead in Total Passed Yards with 2,431 and in Offensive Yards at 2,583.
Top three receivers on the night were Famakinde with 4 receptions, 169 yards, 2 TD’s…Chuoi had 91 yards on 5 catches, 1 TD…Melanson 48 yards on 3 passes, 1 TD.
The Sun defense didn’t see a lot of field time but contributed with a 65-yard pick-six by Hollis Walter, his second of the game. Tariq Brown picked up his 6th INT of the season which places him in a three-way tie for the league lead.
The Sun have a bye next weekend and close out the 2025 BCFC regular season October 4th in Kamloops, looking to finish undefeated at 10 and 0.
