A 29-23 final on the island snaps the Sun winning streak

The Sun regular season winning streak came to an end on Saturday night as the Westshore Rebels won 29-23.

It was an exciting second half, but a Jamel Lyles touchdown run with 16 seconds left sealed the deal for the Rebels who force a first place tie with the Sun as both teams are 6-1.

The Sun finished with 277 yards through the air and 152 on the ground while the Rebels gained 262 through the air and 175 on the ground.

The play of the game came as the Rebels faced a third and 13 and converted with time ticking down.

Lliam Wishart scored his fourth touchdown of the season while Keith Zyla ran one in from four yards out.  Kealey Heintz kicked three field goals but it wasn’t enough.

The Sun now welcome the Saskatoon Hilltops (4-1) to town on Saturday night making CJFL history.  Kick-off is set for 7:00pm
