The Sun win their fourth straight to open the season

The Okanagan Sun collected their 22nd straight regular season win with a 37-19 victory of the VI Raiders on Saturday night.

The Raiders opened the scoring with a 32 yard field, making the Sun play from behind for the first time this season.

The Sun responded with a 75 yard drive capped off by a two yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Foster Martens.

After the Raiders responded with a long drive and touchdown of their own, the Sun took over and never looked back.

Brendan Hansen finished a drive, started by a Layne Hull interception, with his first rushing major of the season from six yards out.  Then Martens found Lliam Wishart from nine yards out to put the Sun up by two touchdowns.  After a Raiders score, Keely Heintz booted a 35 yard field goal with 11 seconds left in the half.

There was no scoring the third quarter, but in the fourth the Sun put the game away with a pair of Heintz field goals.  The Sun special teams also got in on the scoring after Connor Richard blocked a punt, Raquille Cespedes returned it for a 15 yard touchdown.

Martens finished the game 15 of 23 for 200 yards and a touchdown, while the ground game rushed 34 times for 162 yards and had two touchdowns.

The Sun (4-0) will now host the Kamloops Broncos (0-4) next Saturday night at 7:00pm.
