Three Named Defensive All-Canadians

Three members of the Sun stifling defence have been named 2015 All-Canadians after a shutdown season.

Defensive Lineman Jonas Gering – His first All-Canadian award. He collected 16 tackles, 3 assists, 13 sacks, 4 knockdowns, 2 forced fumbles this past season.

Defensive Back – Brennan Van Nistelrooy – His second straight All-Canadian as the BCFC Defensive Player of the Year. He amassed 19 tackles, 4 assists, 2 blocked kicks, 2 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery and was tied for the CJFL lead with 6 interceptions.

Defensive Back – Cord Delinte – His first All-Canadian award after a terrific season.  He had 34 tackles, 3 assists, 5 knockdowns, 1 interception.  He also had 2 interceptions in the semi-final game against the Broncos.

With these three defensive players, plus the three offensive players announced yesterday the Sun have six players named as All-Canadians.  The Saskatoon Hilltops also have six players named.

The Banquet of Champions goes tomorrow night as the CJFL will announce their Major Award winners.  Brennan Van Nistelrooy is in the running for the CJFL Defensive Player of the Year, while Head Coach Shane Beatty has been nominated for the CJFL Coach of the Year award.

The Sun will head to Saskatoon on Friday morning in preparation of the 2015 Canadian Bowl on Saturday morning at 11:00am PST.
