Sun blast Raiders 54-0

For the first time since 2004 the Okanagan Sun are BCFC champions after a 54-0 shutout of the Vancouver Island Raiders.

The Sun were able to flex their offensive and defensive muscle over matching the Raiders in all facets of the game, scoring four touchdowns on the ground.

In all the offence was extremely balanced passing for 288 yards, while running for 211.  Kory Nagata was terrific on the ground, carrying 11 times for 93 yards scoring twice including the game’s opening touchdown from 25 yards out.

Quarterback Cam Bedore was named the Offensive Player of the Game finishing 14 of 20 for 247 yards and two touchdowns.   He found Kyle Patchell from 15 yards and Kasey Russell from four yards out.  Bedore also ran for a 22 yard touchdown.

Thomas Huber was named the Special Teams Player of the Game with three field goals of 19, 20 and 35 yards.

Defensively the Sun were simply dominating.  They held the Raiders to 67 yards on the ground and held quarterback Liam O’Brien to 11 of 32 for 107 yards and intercepted him three times.  Brennan Van Nistelrooy was named the Defensive Player of the Game after two picks including a fantastic one handed interception on the final play of the game.

The Sun will now represent the BCFC at the 2015 Canadian Bowl on Saturday November 7 against the Saskatoon Hilltops.   The Toppers beat the Calgary Colts 38-16 and will host the National championship.
