After a 35 point first quarter the Sun cruise to win

The Okanagan Sun came out of the gates hard and fast.

The Sun laid a 35-spot on the hometown Westshore Rebels in the first quarter during a convincing 51-10 win Saturday in Victoria.

Quarterback Cam Bedore tossed a pair of touchdown passes to receiver Thomas Huber before many in attendance in Victoria had a settled into their seats.

He made it 21-0 with a touchdown strike to Kyle Kawamoto before the quarter was half old.

Bedore finished the quarter with two more touchdown passes, one to Kawamoto and another to Pierre-Luc Lord.

He now has 17 touchdown passes on the season.

The teams traded field goals early in the second quarter before Josiah Joseph got into the act, throwing a nine yard touchdown strike to Shai Ross.

Joseph nearly found the end zone on the final play but was stopped just shy of the goal line.

The Sun managed just a pair of field goals from Huber in the second half.

Victoria found the end zone late when Talyn Davies hit Eric Williams for a 75 yard strike.

This is the same Victoria squad the Sun torched 78-7 in the opening game of the season. In that game the Sun amassed 315 yards and three majors through the air.

Huber managed 27 points in the game with his two touchdowns, six extra points and three field goals. He now has 121 points on the season, 11 shy of Steven Shott's record of 132 established in 2010.

He is also 23 points away from the league record of 144 points established by former VI Raider running back Andrew Harris in 2009.

Huber has one last chance at either mark when the 9-0 Sun close out the season next Saturday night in Kamloops. A Sun win would guarantee a first round playoff meeting with the same Broncos.
