Keagan Hughes played his best junior football game back on Sunday as the Sun defence slowed the high octane offence of the Kamloops Broncos.  The West Kelowna product has been named the BCFC Defensive Player of the Week after his consistent pressure in the face of the Broncos pivot, totaling six tackles, had a half sack, an assisted tackle and blocked a punt.

The “hit of the game” was also delivered by Hughes.  With the Broncos inside the Sun 20 yard line, Hughes came up from his linebacker position on a timing blitz.  He shot through the line, steam rolled the running back block, got to the Broncos quarterback and stripped the ball.  Ryley Butler picked up the fumble.

Hughes becomes the third Sun defender to be named the Conference Player of the Week.

The Sun (8-0) will be in Westshore this weekend to face the Rebels (2-6) on Saturday at 3:00pm.  In Week 1 the Sun blasted the Rebels 78-7 at the Apple Bowl.  This will be the first visit to Westshore since the 2013 season.
