The Sun defence was on a mission on Sunday afternoon and showed why they are considered the best defensive in the CJFL collecting 13 sacks.

The total is a new BCFC record and second all-time in CJFL history. Only the 1984 Regina Rams had more, recording 15 in a single game.

Leading the charge was the BCFC Defensive Player of the Week Jonas Gering as he accounted for four of the 13 sacks and was in the backfield countless times harassing the Raiders quarterback.  Gering also assisted on a tackle.

Perhaps what’s more impressive is that in the last three regular season match-ups with the Raiders the Sun defence has collected 32 sacks.

It’s the first time Gering has won this honour and becomes the second Sun defensive player to win this award.  Ryley Butler was honoured in Week 3 when the defence collected 10 sacks in Nanaimo.
