A stifling Sun defence made the difference in Week 7 with a 28-7 victory over the VI Raiders on Sunday at the Apple Bowl.

The defence racked up 13 sacks setting a new BCFC single game record.  Lucas Machado and Jonas Gering each had four sacks, while Ryley Butler collected two and has five sacks versus the Raiders this season.

The “D” not only dominated the line, but allowed just 34 yards on the ground and kept the reigning All-Canadian quarterback Liam O’Brien to nine completions and 115 yards.  Brennan Van Nistelrooy intercepted in CJFL leading sixth pass and Cord Delinte picked off a pass on the first play of the game while laying on his back.

The offence sputtered early, but did manage the opening score, a six yard touchdown pass from Cam Bedore to Lerone Robinson.

In the second half Bedore caught fire, completing 10 straight passes and connecting with Kyle Kawamoto twice for touchdowns.  Bedore finished 13 of 19 for 156 yards and three majors.  Kawamoto hauled in five passes for 63 yards and two scores.  Kyle Patchell had a terrific game making four receptions for 75 yards.

In all the offence tallied 309 yards against a very good Raiders defence that simply ran out of gas.

The Sun (7-0) will host the Kamloops Broncos (4-3) on Sunday afternoon in the final regular season home game at the Apple Bowl.  Kick-off is set for 1:00pm.
