A convincing 52-10 victory over the defending champs

The wind nor the rain could slow down the Sun on Sunday afternoon, blowing out the Langley Rams 52-10 in Langley following Saturday’s rainout.

Following a slow first quarter in which the Sun scored a single and benefitted from two Rams conceded safeties, Thomas Huber connected on his 11th field goal of the season from 22 yards out in the second quarter to put the visitors up 8-0.

After Brennan Van Nistelrooy’s conference leading fifth interception, Josiah Joseph hit Shai Ross from 26 yards to give the Sun a 15-0 lead at halftime.  For Joseph, it’s his eight touchdown pass of the season.

The Rams came out strong in the third quarter as BCFC sack leader Brock Gowanlock got his second of the game, jarring the ball loose from Joseph.  He then recovered the fumble for a touchdown to put the Rams on the board.  That touchdown was the lone major the Rams would score.

The sack for a touchdown seemingly woke the Sun up, as they scored 37 points following that play.

Shortly after the Rams touchdown, Van Nistelrooy blocked a Rams punt into the end zone where JP Kalambay recovered it for his first career touchdown.  It was sweet justice for Kalamby who returned an interception for TD last week at the Apple Bowl, only to have it called back on a penalty.

With just 39 seconds left in the third quarter Cam Bedore came off the bench and hit Ross for his second of the game to raise the score to 29-7.  Two plays later the Rams conceded their third safety.

In the fourth quarter Bedore threw three more touchdown passes, finding Lerone Robinson from 15 yards, Kyle Patchell from 14 yards out and finally Kyle Kawamoto from 10 yards out for his third of the season.
Bedore finished 9 of 11 for 162 yards and threw four touchdown passes.

The Rams kicked a short field goal at the end of the game.

With the victory the Sun sweep the season series and head into the Labour Day bye week at 6-0 and will prepare for a match up with the VI Raiders (4-2) on Sunday September 13th at 1:00pm at the Apple Bowl.
