10 sacks helps keep an undefeated record

In Nanaimo on Saturday afternoon the Sun kept their undefeated record in tack with a 27-3 victory over the VI Raiders thanks to a dominating defensive showcase.

The Sun “D” held the home side to just 122 yards of net office, including just 35 on the ground and collected a record sacks.  Ryley Butler collected three of those sacks, while Lucas Machado had a pair.  Jonas Gering, Layne Hull and Justin Gabriel each had one and Dalton Dietrich, Hayden Hamilton, Gering and Conner Novak each shared a sack.

The secondary was busy as well, Jamie Turek had an interception while Brennan Van Nistelrooy recorded a fumble.  Cord Delinte and Hull each had three tackles.

Offensively the Sun were solid gaining 396 net yards.  Quarterback Cam Bedore was 11 of 21 for 145 yards and threw a touchdown.  Josiah Joseph finished 5 of 8 for 99 yards.  Kyle Kawamoto had four catches for a game high 105 yards, while Kyle Patchell had a game high five receptions for 89 yards and the lone touchdown.

On the ground the Sun recorded 153 yards, led by Kory Nagata’s 10 carries and 54 yards.

Kicker Thomas Huber finished Sun drives connecting on five of six field goals recording 16 of the 27 points scored.

The Sun (3-0) will host the Langley Rams (2-1) in a rematch of last season’s BCFC title game on Saturday night at 7:00pm at the Apple Bowl.
