The Sun pitch their first shutout of the season

It wasn't pretty in a penalty filled game, but the Sun defence shutout the Valley Huskers on Saturday night 64-0.

The first quarter featured touchdowns from Kasey Russell from a yard out and a 54 yard touchdown pass from Cam Bedore to Kyle Kawamoto.  Bedore's only completion of the first half.

In the second quarter Thomas Huber connected on a 34 yard field goal, while Josiah Joseph hit Kyle Patchell for a 15 yard major, one play after Connor Novak recovered a fumble.

In the third Before hit Huber for a 67 yard score and Joseph connected with Pierre Luc Lord for a 44 yard touchdown.  Russell added his second major with a three yard plunge.

The fourth quarter was highlighted by a Jamie Turek 80 yard punt return for a touchdown.  Huber hit a 27 yard field goal as well.

The Huskers conceded three safeties and the defence forced another.

The Sun have won 14 straight in Chilliwack dating back to 1999.  The Sun will stay on the road and face the VI Raiders on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm.  The Raiders beat the Westshore Rebels 23-21 to improve to 2-0.
