If ever there was an exclamation point on a season, Robbie Yochim just got his!

The fifth year veteran has been named the Male Athlete of the Year at the 40th Annual Kelowna Civic Awards.

Yochim’s season has been well documented and it is nothing short of spectacular.  He set a new BCFC record for best kickoff return average of 43.1 yards, set a new BCFC career record for most combined punt and missed field goal returns with 163 and set a new BCFC career record for most punt returns with 156.

The RSS grad also set a new team season record for the most punt return yards in a season with 685. He set a new team punt return average record with 20.7 yards per return.

In 2014 Yochim set a new team record for most kickoff return yards in a season with 603.  He set a new team record for career kickoff returns with 64, career record for most kickoff return yards 1693, best career kickoff return average of 26.4 and the most kickoff return touchdown in a career with 4.

He becomes the fifth player in Sun history to win the Civic award Male Athlete of the Year.  Bill Long won in the inaugural Sun season in 1981, Corrie Lang in 1988, Aaron David won in 2000 after a Canadian Bowl championship, while Carlos Guglielmi won in 2006.

Yochim will be in Surrey this weekend completing at the BC Lions Evaluation Camp.

Congratulations Robbie!
