Former linebacker Brandon Donkers has also been invited to the CFL Regional Combine in Toronto on March 26th, joining former safety Jack Rush.

Donkers, who is from Ontario, converted from a fullback to a linebacker just prior to the 2011 season and the move paid immediate dividends for the Sun linebacker unit.

In his first year at that position Donkers compiled 26 solo tackles, had 2.5 sacks and a pair of interceptions.  His 26 stops was second most on the team that season, just two behind Steven Doege.

Despite an injury plagued 2013, Donkers was still one of the top defenders and leaders on the field compiling 29 solo tackles, a single season career high.

Over the course of three seasons at linebacker Donkers finished with an incredible 79 tackles, 27 assisted stops, 3 sacks, 1 blocked kick, 2 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries including one for a touchdown and 4 interceptions.

In 2014 Donkers played with the Windsor AKO Fratman, winning an Ontario Football Conference.

Here is an excerpt from the letter Donkers received:

"Dear Brandon,

The Canadian Football League is inviting select Draft eligible players and the top 5th year CIS and CJFL players to attend an exclusive Regional Combine in their part of the country.

Due to an interest from our CFL teams, you have been selected to attend the Regional Combine in Toronto on Thursday March 26, 2015."

Donkers will be joined by former teammate Jack Rush in Toronto as both players are hoping to impressive scouts and win an invitation to the main CFL Combine, also in Toronto.

Good luck Brandon!
