Three Broncos coaches are Sun alumni

A number of ex-Sun players have continued in the football world and have stepped into the coaching realm.

On Sunday when the Sun host the Kamloops Broncos, it’ll be a homecoming for three of the Broncos coaching staff.

Head Coach Duncan Olthuis played one season with the Sun in 1999 as a defensive lineman before heading to the University of Saskatchewan.  He didn’t record any stats with the Sun.

Broncos offensive coordinator Mike Faisthuber played at the Apple Bowl in 1996 and 1997.  He collected 19 catches for 459 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver.  He also carried six times for 67 yards.

Like Olthuis, Jeremy White played for the Sun in 1999.  He caught 45 balls for 792 yards and 12 touchdowns.  He helped the club finish 8-1-1, winning the BCFC and travelling to the Canadian Bowl in Windsor, ultimately falling to the host AKO Fratmen 32-29.  He's now the receivers coach for the Broncos.

The Sun (8-1) will host their alumni and Broncos (6-3) on Sunday at 1:00pm in the regular season finale.

In another interesting coaching connection, Sun head coach Shane Beatty is originally from Kamloops ... but that's another story ....
