Sunday afternoon has all the makings of a classic, in a first place showdown as the Sun (7-1) welcome in the Langley Rams (6-2) in Week 10 of the BCFC regular season.

Three weeks ago the Sun beat the Rams 31-10, avenging a 33-20 loss in Langley during Week 2.  This Sunday will be the rubber match and the winner will get sole possession of first place and potentially home field advantage throughout the post season.

This game will feature the Sun defense who have allowed the fewest amount of points (100) matching up with the Rams offense who have scored the most points in the Conference (375).

This will be the 50th regular season meeting between the Sun and Rams, the Sun winning the all-time series 34-14-1.

In the first two games the Sun defense hasn’t allowed the Rams to reach 100 yards on the ground.  In Week 2 they gave up 43 yards, then in Week 7 the Rams collected just 80 yards.  As a matter of fact the leading Rams rusher is Jordan Traversy and his 51 yards on 12 carries.  The reigning BCFC Offense Player of the Week, Nathan Lund has 10 carries for 34 against the Sun and didn’t play in Week 7 at the Apple Bowl.

The Sun “D” has given the offense opportunities to score with a short field.

The Rams passing attack against the Sun has seen success, gathering 404 yards and two touchdowns.  The question coming into Sunday is who will be the Rams quarterback?  In Week 7, opening day starter Dylan Tucker was injured after throwing an interception at the Apple Bowl.  22 year old Jordan McCarty has filled in nicely going 2-0 since.

Tucker against the Sun is 17 of 29 for 260 yards, has thrown two touchdowns and three interceptions. That said in Week 7 before the injury he was 1 of 5 for 8 yards.  McCarty was 12 of 23 for 144 yards and threw a pick against the Sun.  Dan English leads the way with 11 catches for 175 yards and score against the Sun.

Offensively the Sun have had trouble moving the football against the big and strong Rams defense, gathering just 357 yards in two games.  The passing game has struggled collecting just 141 yards with one touchdown.  Cam Bedore is 12 of 32 for 99 yards, has a touchdown and two interceptions.  Josiah Joseph saw action in Week 2 and finished 5 of 12 for 42 yards and two interceptions.

Jesse Kendall has seven catches for 53 yards to lead the club.

The ground game has collected 279 yards, led by Dillon Fortune, the BCFC leading rusher, who has 19 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown against the Rams.  Alex Bradley was injured in Week 2, but did carry four times for nine yards in Week 7.

Both teams have an excellent return game.  The Rams are led by John Beckerleg who has returned six kicks (4 punts, 2 kickoffs) for touchdowns, while Robbie Yochim has returned four punts for majors, including three last week against the Rebels.

This game should be a defensive battle on Sunday afternoon and may come down to turnovers. Which defense can give their offense the shorter field?  The Sun are a +26 and lead the Conference with 17 interceptions, while the Rams are +13.

Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm on Sunday at the Apple Bowl, tickets are available HERE.

Can’t make it to the game, Ryan Watters has the live play by play starting with the Kick-Off Show at 12:30pm HERE
