The Sun set a new team record for points in a single game with a dominating 92-7 victory over the Westshore Rebels on Saturday night in their first game since losing teammate JT Fernandez.

The win extends the Sun (7-1) winning streak to six games, while the Rebels (2-6) for the third straight time.

After defense created a Rebels fumble inside the Sun five yard line, the offense went to work scoring 21 points the first quarter.

Alex Bradley took the first play from scrimmage 102 yards down to the Rebels seven yard line.  On the next play Dillon Fortune scored his fifth touchdown of the season.  Also in the first quarter Josiah Joseph hit Thomas Huber from 42 yards out for a major, followed by a Robbie Yochim punt return for a touchdown.

In the second quarter the Rebels scored their lone touchdown, an 11 yard run by their quarterback Hunter Lake.  From there, it was all Sun.

Huber hit a 15 yard field goal, Lerone Robinson caught a 42 yard pass from Joseph for a touchdown, followed by a two yard touchdown pass from Joseph.  The rookie pivot finished six of six and had three touchdown strikes.

Also in the second quarter, Yochim returned his second punt for a touchdown, sprinting untouched 87 yards.  Then as the half expired Huber connected on a booming 44 yard field goal to give the Sun a halftime lead of 48-7.

In the third quarter the offense continued to benefit from terrific defense, giving them a short field.  Bradley, Armand Bokitch and backup quarterback Matt Calderwood each score a major with a one yard run.  Calderwood also connected with Robinson for a 62 yard touchdown.

With run time in full effect in the fourth quarter, Kory Nagata scampered in from 12 yards out and Yochim returned his third punt for a touchdown, this time of 47 yards for a major.

It was an emotional win for the Sun, after the passing of Fernandez.  Before and after the game, a number of Sun players wore their emotions on their sleeve.

The Sun will now prepare to host the Langley Rams (6-2) on Sunday September 28 at 1:00pm.  It’ll be the third meeting of the season between the two clubs, both of them winning a game at home.
