Sun announce the passing of JT Fernandez

It is with heavy hearts today that the Okanagan Sun announce the passing of linebacker JT Fernandez.

“This is a tragic day for our organization,” says President Paul Carson.  JT was a wonderful person and a standout on the football field.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.”

Details of JT’s death will be released at the appropriate time.

The 21 year old was one of the best linebackers in Sun history.  In two seasons with the Sun the Cloverdale native made 47 solo tackles, three sacks, two fumbles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and blocked two kicks.

The Sun game scheduled for Saturday night against the Westshore Rebels at the Apple Bowl will continue as planned at 7:00pm.  The players will be wearing special sticker on their helmets in memory of JT.
