This past weekend the Okanagan Sun beat the VI Raiders 19-7 for the second straight game in Nanaimo and sweeping the regular season outscoring them 121-27. 

The Sun defense was stellar allowing just 86 yards on the ground and sacking the Raiders QB seven times.  Defensive end Zac Ironstand was a leader and has been named the “BC Lions Defensive Player of the Week.”  The veteran recorded two and a half sacks, two solo tackles, assisted on two and recovered a fumble.  It’s the second consecutive week a Sun defender has won this award.

Ironstand joins Michele Vecchio (Week 3), Robbie Yochim (Week 1, Week 7) and Dexter Janke (Week 7) as Sun players to win the Conference Player of the Week award
