Dexter Janke and Robbie Yochim receive Conference honours

After the 31-10 win over the Langley Rams on Saturday night e Sun took sole possession of first place in the BC Football Conference. Thanks to the win, two players were announced as Conference Players of the Week.

The Sun were led by their defense and special teams, holding the Rams high powered offense to just 43 yards on the ground and 179 total offensive yards.  The “D” forced seven turnovers, including two interceptions from the “BC Lions Defensive Player of the Week” Dexter Janke.  The Edmonton native returned both interceptions to inside the Rams 20 yard line, one of which was a 70 yard return.  Janke also made two solo tackles and assisted on one.

Besides the defense the Sun Special Teams were a major factor on Saturday night, led by the “BC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week,” Robbie Yochim.  The fifth year veteran got the Sun on the board in the first quarter with a 50 yard punt return for a touchdown.  Yochim totaled three punt returns for 102 yards and one kick-off return for 34 yards.
