Players and Coaches raise over $1,100 for ALS

On Monday afternoon the Sun players and coaches used the beginning of the bye week to fulfil a challenge put forth by Westwood Retirement Resort in West Kelowna.

Earlier in the week the residents challenged the Sun to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  The Sun not only accepted the Challenge but added their own special flare.

A dunk tank was set up in front of the retirement home and visitors were invited to make a donation to ALS in exchange for a chance to dunk a member of the team.

The dunk tank and a BBQ on Elliot Road raised more than $1,100 for ALS.

Head Coach Shane Beatty was dunked (photo below).

Receiver Thomas Huber then challenged the UBC Okanagan Heat women’s basketball and soccer teams to accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

The Sun have a bye this weekend before hosting the Langley Rams on Saturday September 6 at the Apple Bowl.
