With one punt return on Saturday in Nanaimo, fifth year veteran Robbie Yochim becomes the BCFC’s career record holder for punt returns.

Yochim’s 132nd won’t be memorable yardage wise, collecting just one yard on the return.  However with that yard, Yochim breaks the tie with Nick Downey the former Langley Ram, to give him the record with six games remaining in the regular season.

The RSS grad returned his first punt on July 31, 2010 oddly enough against the Rams at the Apple Bowl.  Yochim retuned seven punts that day, Downey returned six.

Punt returns wasn’t the only record Yochim broke and set on Saturday.  With his two kick-off returns for 75 yards, he set a new team record with 1,306 return yards in his career.  He broke DJ Weber’s previous record of 1,237 yards.

Yochim’s first kick-off return was July 24, 2010 in Kamloops. He returned one kick-off for 31 yards.  Weber by the way also returned a kick-off that night for 38 yards.

Yochim and the Sun (3-1) return to Kamloops this Saturday night when they face the 3-0 Broncos, on their first three game win streak in franchise history. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm live from Hillside Stadium.  Catch the game on the flagship station of the Sun, AM 1150 with Ryan Watters beginning with the Kick-Off Show at 6:30pm.
