The Rams score 17 points in the fourth quarter

The Sun got off to the start they wanted on Saturday night in Langley, scoring 11 points early in the first quarter and a half but couldn’t hold the lead falling to the Rams 33-20.

After a conceded safety in the first quarter to give the Sun a 2-0 lead, kicker Hunter Verhulst connected on three straight field goals.  The first from 41 yards out, then a 12 yard field goal, followed by a 33 yarder gave the visitors an 11-0 lead by the 10:34 mark of the second quarter.

The Rams finally got on the board four minutes later as kicker Steve Thomas hit from 14 yards out.  Two minutes later the Rams scored the first touchdown of the game as quarterback Dylan Tucker completed a 31 yard pass to Dan English to pull the home side within one point.

Thomas then hit a 44 yard field goal seconds before the end of the half to give the Rams their first lead at 13-11 heading into the locker room.

Early in the second half Landon King picked off a pass and returned it back into Rams territory to get the Sun offense excellent field position.  Three plays later, Dillon Fortune punched into the endzone on a five yard touchdown, giving the Sun an 18-13 lead.

Then at 2:21 of the third, Thomas connected on his third field goal, from 33 yards cutting the Sun lead to three.

In the fourth quarter the Rams dominated both on the offense and defense sides.  The Rams “D” didn’t allow the Sun to have any success seemingly stopping them on every play.

The Rams offense went to work as Thomas hit his fourth field goal of the game, this time from 22 yards out to give the Rams the lead for good.

On their next possession Tucker hit receiver Tore Corrado for a 62 yard touchdown strike with eight minutes to play.

Four minutes later, the Rams conceded another safety cutting the lead to 26-20.

Then with time ticking away Josiah Joseph’s pass deflected off Jesse Kendall and was picked off by the Rams secondary, setting up a three yard touchdown plunge by the quarterback with 48 second to go.

With the loss the Sun fall to 1-1, while the Rams stay undefeated at 2-0.  The Sun will host their home opener on Saturday night when they welcome in the Vancouver Island Raiders (1-1) at 7pm.
