Main Camp kicks off on Friday for the Okanagan Sun in preparation for the 2014 season which begins on Saturday July 26 in Chilliwack against the Valley Huskers.

The Sun are coming off an 8-2 season and an upset loss to the Langley Rams in the BCFC semi-final at the Apple Bowl.

If that motivation isn’t enough, the Sun have an opportunity host the National Championship game; the Canadian Bowl in November.  The winner of the BCFC this season will have that honour.  The last time the Sun hosted was in 2000 beating Saskatoon 36-28.

There are approximately 84 players joining Main Camp, looking to win a spot on the 2014 roster.  Head Coach Shane Beatty will be the first to tell players, even the veterans, that if they don’t compete in Main Camp, they may not have a roster spot.

On field sessions will take place on the Parkinson Rec Field #8.

For long time veterans like Robbie Yochim, Alex Bradley, Jessie Kendall, Landon King and Zack Ironstand this will be their final Sun Main Camp and they would like nothing more than the be hoisting the Canadian Bowl in November.
